Overview: Professional symposium for researchers and resource managers working in the Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed.

Themes: 

  1. Nutrients & Algae:  Moving from science to action on Lake of the Woods nutrients and algae:
    • Special Focus Session: Environment and Climate Change Canada's Lake of the Woods science program (2016-2020), including overview of science objectives, state of the lake, new information on Canadian phosphorus sources, drivers and consequences of algal blooms. 

      ECCC will discuss detailed information on the integrated modeling framework developed, preliminary model outputs and how these will support policy decisions and actions.  ECCC will also present next steps in determining phosphorus reductions necessary to achieve desired water quality and ecosystem outcomes and the actions that could be taken to achieve those reductions.  A panel discussion session will follow.
