The Lake of the Woods Water Sustainability Foundation invites nominations for the:

  • 2018 Larry Kallemeyn Award (for researchers and resource managers)
  • 2018 Wilson Stewardship Award (for individuals, groups or stewardship projects)

These awards will be presented at the 2018 International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Forum, held March 7-8 in International Falls, Minnesota.

About the Kallemeyn Award
The Kallemeyn Award recognizes an individual researcher or resource manager who has demonstrated in the Rainy-Lake of the Woods watershed: Outstanding professional achievement in scientific research or resource management. Significant contributions to collaborative and cooperative approaches to research or resource management. This award is named in honour of its first recipient, Larry Kallemeyn, USGS (retired), who throughout his career, made significant contributions to scientific understanding, resource management and collaborative and cooperative approches in the watershed.

About the Wilson Award
The Wilson Stewardship Award recognizes individuals, groups, or projects that have made significant contributions to environmental stewardship in the Rainy-Lake of the Woods watershed through: Education, outreach, civic engagement and participation in stewardship initiatives or program development. Projects or programs focused on protection, restoration, preservation or reduction of environmental impact and development of sustainable practices. This award is named in honour of its first recipient, Gerry Wilson, in recognition of her contributions to lake stewardship including development of volunteer monitoring programs, civic engagement and education and cooperative approaches between the public, universities and government agencies.
