ECCC launced a public engagement to involve you and seek your input to inform decisions about potential establishment of Canadian phosphorus targets for Lake of the Woods. To support this, ECCC:
- Released a factsheet titled "Proposed Ecosystem Objectives and Phosphorus Reduction Scenarios To Manage Algae Blooms in Lake of The Woods".
- Launced a public engagement website https://www.placespeak.com/lakeofthewoods where you can review the factsheet options, participate in discussions about the proposed options and provide your input to ECCC.
- Is participating in a series of public webinars organized by LOWWSF for to share what ECCC has learned and provide details of the options and seek your input.
For years, our Foundation have urged Canada to commit to a plan for Lake of the Woods water quality – a plan that sets objectives and has measurable targets for phosphorus to combat harmful algae blooms. Canadian federal science has been completed. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is now taking the next step towards developing a plan and wants your input and advice.
